Announcement

2008 Sino-Austria  International Symposium of Hip Disorders in Childhood (Instructional Course)

The International Symposium of hip Disorders in Childhood will be held in Shanghai between the 19th and 24th September 2008. This symposium is co-sponsored by Xin-Hua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Orthopedic Section of Chinese Association of Pediatric Surgery and Editorial Office of Chinese Journal of Pediatric Surgery. This is also an instructional course designated by China CME Council while the Sino-Austria Joint Course of Hip Screening in Neonate and Infancy will be held. The 16 Category I credits will be awarded.

Hip disorders are the common musculoskeletal problems in childhood, which lead to disturbance of bone and joint development and eventually cause the disabilities in adulthood. Recently, significant progress has been made in this particular field, such as in early diagnosis, customized protocol for residual deformity or neglected DDH, and hip tumor and infection management along with the new findings in bioengineering researches and rehabilitation. A number of distinguished surgeons and scientists have been invited from China, UK, Austria, Norway and USA to teach and to share their work and knowledge at this special academic event. We advise that you should bring your cases for discussion during the symposium. Professor Reinhard Graf, pioneer in hip sonography, will come to teach theory and technique of hip sonography for early diagnosis of DDH. This will be the first training course of hip sonography along with the hands-on workshop by Professor Graf in Mainland China.

We anticipate that this symposium will be an exciting and productive one as well as the panel for the orthopedic peers to exchange their ideas and experiences along with the scientific investigations in child and adolescent hip. We look forward to seeing you at this symposium and guarantee that this will be educational and memorable.
